I have a little announcement today.
Let me share a story first to set the context.
A few years ago, I gave a one-hour motivational talk to about 200 sales professionals at their sales kickoff event.
During my talk, I saw how engaged the participants were.
The energy was palpable.
At the end of the talk, I led them to a song and everyone gamely sang!
After my talk, there was a long line of people wanting to talk to me and take some selfies.
I got messages like,
“I was so inspired by your talk, Sha!”
“You made things look so simple! I feel like I can do anything!”
“I’m so pumped up to serve our clients!”
“I’m so excited to be in sales!”
“I’m so grateful to our company for getting you! I’ve been wanting to see you in person!”
Meeting the participants up close after the talk made me so much happier.
We exchanged His, handshakes, and even hugs! (This was pre-pandemic).
I wished I could have stayed longer but I needed to leave during lunch for my next speaking engagement in another city.
While I was in the car, I was still beaming from ear to ear.
What a beautiful day so far!
When my happy emotions subsided, reality sank in.
Ouch! I was nursing a broken heart at that time.
The pain was excruciating. I felt like I wanted to hug my heart and go home and curl up in bed.
And then I thought about the event that morning and told myself,
Awww! They were so blessed they had a motivational speaker (Sha) to motivate them and they felt so pumped up during and after the talk.
I wish I had a “Sha” to motivate me as well because the pain I’m feeling is so deep.
And then, I had an AHA moment!
Wait a minute, “I am Sha! I can motivate Sha!”
So I delivered a one-on-one motivational talk to myself.
Of course, this all happened in my head, or else, the car driver thought I was crazy! Hehe!
Before we arrived at the venue for my next talk, I was so motivated and pumped up!
The talk I delivered to myself was very effective indeed!
This is the reason behind this email announcement, Speak (WU) 🙂
We’ll shake things up a little here in our TuesDate newsletter.
In line with the impact and energy I’ve experienced delivering motivational talks, we are renaming TuesDate to Motivational Speaker’s Insights.
Moving forward, instead of seeing [TuesDate] on the email subject, you will see the shortened version [Motivational Speaker].
I feel so grateful that companies and organizations invite me to give motivational talks at their annual events and sales kickoffs.
For the past few years, I saw how those one-hour motivational talks ignited inspiration, courage, and possibilities in the audience. I saw how they stood tall literally and figuratively during and after the talk, as if something within them was awakened.
I am so grateful I get to do this! I cherish every opportunity and meticulously prepare for each talk to ensure maximum impact. That’s how much I respect you, the audience, and those who invited me.
So with the newsletter’s new name, I aim to extend the reach of these motivational talks directly to your inbox.
Here’s our official tagline for the Motivational Speaker’s Insights newsletter.
Weekly stories, highlights, and actions to unlock exciting possibilities in your life and career!
Yes, we’ll still retain our Story, Highlights, and Call to Action format.
Do you like the new direction, Speak (WU)?
I’m eager to hear your thoughts.
