Happy Wednesday! 🙂

How was your Valentine’s Day celebration?
Days before Valentine, I asked God to surprise me.
I said, “God, I want to receive flowers on Valentine’s Day!” Haha!
God gave me more than what I prayed for. I’ll share that with you in awhile.

How did you spend your Valentine’s Day?
On Valentine’s Day, I created 5 music videos! Hehe!
Here’s a snap shot of one of the songs I recorded.

Except for the hair and make-up artist I hired to do my HMU, I pretty much did everything by myself.
I was the singer/artist/story board writer/director/fashion consultant/videographer/lights woman.
I felt so physically exhausted but I had sooooooo much FUN!!!

As I was reflecting later that night, I was smiling from ear to ear.
Wow, God! I am sooooo happy! I feel so loved! I feel so blessed! What a beautiful day we had. What a joy it is to sing!
What a joy it is to be creative! Thank you for the time, energy, enthusiasm, creativity, talent, and resources You gave me.”

Then I remembered.
Wait a minute. It’s 9:00PM.
I haven’t received any flowers today! (I remembered I shared with God my desire to receive flowers on Valentine’s Day).

And then I smiled again when I realized…
“Wow! God gave me so much more than what I asked for.”

I wanted to receive flowers to feel loved and special.
But even without the flowers, I already felt so loved, special, happy, content.
What a beautiful gift!
I was freed from the Valentine’s “should haves.”
I realized my happiness on Valentine’s Day was no longer rooted on the flowers or chocolates I’ll receive. Hahaha!
(I still love to receive flowers but it’s no longer a requirement to be happy on Valentine’s Day or on any special day)
Thank God for being so patient with me.

My little story may be simple and petty but the lesson is profound. Naks!
Lesson learned here is this: The goal is not to achieve the goal, but to achieve the purpose behind the goal.
I love how Hal Elrod, bestselling author of the Miracle Morning, beautifully shared this in one of his posts.

My goal on Valentine’s Day was to receive flowers.
The purpose of the goal was to feel loved and special.
I didn’t achieve the goal (aka flowers) but I achieved the purpose behind the goal (aka to feel loved and special).

Hope you had a beautiful Valentine’s Day celebration! 🙂
May God fill your heart with so much love, joy, and peace today and everyday!

Cheers,
Sha
