Inspiring you to be more grateful each day

Happy Tuesday,

Happy Easter!

How was your long weekend?

Ours was filled with joy and parties here and there.

My family and I heard Mass in person on Sunday morning.

Then we went to three parties, one of which was my aunt’s 77th birthday celebration!

By dinner, my little 9-year old brother was already irritable.

He said he’s tired from all the parties and wanted to go home!

He almost didn’t want to get off the car for our 3rd party for the day. Hahaha!

Today, I’d like to talk about two things: excellence & creativity.

First, let’s talk about excellence.

This is how I define excellence.

“Excellence is going the extra mile to produce the best results possible on a given time frame.”

This is in contrast to mediocrity which is just giving the bare minimum.

On the opposite side of the spectrum is perfectionism — wherein nothing is ever good enough for you and you end up not delivering on time or not delivering at all.

I love the Bible verse,

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.”

Colossians 3:23

This was my Mama’s favorite verse and I saw how she put excellence in everything she did —

whether it’s doing her lesson plan, watering the plants, cooking food, or listening to my stories.

She inspired me to put excellence in everything I do as well, as much as I can.

Excellence is one of our company’s five core values.

Since July 2021, we’ve already published 22 music videos so far! Woah!

Though I don’t get paid to create music videos, I and my team put excellence in each of those music videos.

I invest a lot of time, money, and energy to produce music videos. Hehe!

It’s my playground for fun, excellence, and creativity! It’s all worth it!!!

I hired a professional team of videographers for our music videos.

Here’s a photo of all the gears they used for each of the music videos we did.

Insane, right?

Here’s our latest music video, Celine Dion’s That’s the Way it Is.

Second, let’s talk about Creativity.

Here’s how I define creativity.

Creativity is your ability to create something of value with the resources that you have.

It’s a skill, which means it can be learned.

The truth is, each of us is highly creative.

The question is, do you believe you are highly creative?

Writing a book is an expression of creativity.

Other forms of creativity include :

  • creating an artwork
  • writing a song
  • producing a podcast
  • creating a vlog
  • writing an inspiring FB post
  • cooking something
  • solving a particular problem
  • pacifying a baby who’s crying

More than a month ago, I had an idea,

“I want to create music videos using only my iPhone as my video camera.”

That’s exactly what I did.

That day, I shot 5 music videos!

I was the director, story board writer, fashion consultant, lights assistant, videographer, director, singer, and performer — rolled into one!

It was a lot of FUN!

Here’s one of those five music videos.

It’s a duet with Boracay’s Singing Chef. The chef’s part was shot in Boracay while mine was shot in Manila.

I hope these little lessons on excellence and creativity inspire you to go for that crazy dream of yours even if you think you lack some resources.

You are creative! :)

I wish you love, joy, and peace today and everyday! :)
